What to Look for in a Rental Property

Luxury Two-Storey with Spice Kitchen & Den – Photo 44

A great rental is about more than the monthly rent. A little homework before you sign can save you a lot of trouble later.

Before you apply

  • Read the lease carefully, including the length and renewal terms.
  • Ask what utilities are included in the rent.
  • Check the pet policy if you have, or plan to have, a pet.
  • Take photos of any existing damage when you move in.

Ask how maintenance requests are handled. A responsive landlord makes all the difference.
